Prognostic and predictive significance of geometric measures based on pretreatment T1+Gd MR images in glioblastoma multiforme

Víctor M. Pérez-García, Instituto de Matemática Aplicada a la Ciencia y la Ingeniería, Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha, 13071 Ciudad Real, Spain

Mathematical models have recently proposed that several geometrical measures of the contrast enhancing areas of T1+Gd MRI pretreatment images may contain relevant information on GBM biology and aggressiveness.
In this talk I will present a broad set of geometric measures including measures of the tumor as a whole
and measures of the contrast enhancing areas of the MRIs. Some of these measures are found to have a prognostic value in a multi-centric retrospective study involving 200 patients and correlate with patient’s survival in a multivariable statistical analysis. Also, some of the measures are found to be predictors of response to different therapies, what may be helpful in patient selection for specific therapies. All the details of the study including: the full list of participating Hospitals, the number of participants enrolled, the main results, etc, will be given in the talk.
