Prognostic and predictive significance of geometric measures based on pretreatment T1+Gd MR images in glioblastoma multiforme

Mathematical models have recently proposed that several geometrical measures of the contrast enhancing areas of T1+Gd MRI pretreatment images may contain relevant information on GBM biology and aggressiveness.
In this talk I will present a broad set of geometric measures including measures of the tumor as a whole
and measures of the contrast enhancing areas of the MRIs. Some of these measures are found to have a prognostic value in a multi-centric retrospective study involving 200 patients and correlate with patient’s survival in a multivariable statistical analysis. Also, some of the measures are found to be predictors of response to different therapies, what may be helpful in patient selection for specific therapies.
